Staging Tips

I had the pleasure of attending a real estate CEU course by Spruce Interiors on Staging and after that, I felt like I learned so many new things to share with my clients. Here are just some of those tips you can offer your clients to help them better show and sell their home.
1. De-personalize & De-Clutter all spaces
When preparing a home to sell, no matter how hot the real estate market is, it's crucial that the home is de-personalized & de-cluttered. When buyers walk in, they shouldn't feel inundated with the owners personal property, instead they should be able to envision their own belongings in the home. Plus clutter makes rooms feel smaller. It's imperative that buyers can walk freely without feeling cramped so they can envision the rooms as they see fit.
2. Clean, Clean, Clean
The last thing buyers want to see is a dirty bathroom or stains on carpeting. Now is the time to clean or hire someone to clean your home like never before. Clean every crevice, have carpets professionally cleaned, windows washed. You want your home to shine for potential buyers.
3. Complete your To Do List
When a home is going on the market, the handy man to do list must be completed. Now is the time to patch walls, touch up all knicks, re-paint rooms as needed. Just like with cleaning, you should be showing potential buyers that you’ve put effort into maintaining the property.
4. Neutralize
Red kitchen wall? Now is the time to neutralize. The less a buyer feels they have to do, the more apt they will be to consider the home so neutralize throughout. Light grey & white are hot colors right now. Try Sherwin Williams Repose Gray.
5. Re-arrange Furniture
While some homes do require full staging with furniture brought in, some homes do not. Often times, simple re-arranging and perhaps minimal accent additions are all a home needs to freshen it up.
